Exciting Camps!
The next two weeks are set to be full of adventure with our Rangatahi heading to Tūrangi and Rātā Pod off to El Rancho. Camps create wonderful memories for our tamariki that last a lifetime. A huge thank you to our amazing teachers for organising these rich learning experiences and to all of our parent helpers – it’s a fantastic team effort, ka pai!
I will be driving up to Tūrangi on Wednesday morning, swapping with Mrs McKenzie, who will be there for the first part of the week. Ms Whitaker will be around all week, so please get in touch with Michelle if you have any urgent queries.

Sausage Sizzle
This was big success last week and raised a further $591.20! Ngā mihi to our wonderful parents who helped us Jec, Joe, Jane along with our awesome tamariki, Chanel, Brēanna, Joni, Thelia, Maggie and Arie who cooked the barbie, checked the money and handed out the kai-a great team effort!
Staff News
I am pleased to announce that Whaea Olivia Boyd has won a permanent position at our school - congratulations, Olivia!
We have also welcomed Donald James to our Pūriri Pod (Room 24). Donald started yesterday and has spent the last couple of days getting to know the class and whānau. Ngā mihi to Whaea Nic, who has been an amazing reliever since the start of the year—thank you for your dedication! Donald brings strengths in science and music and is excited to be joining the Kapakapanui team.
We also have some bittersweet news—Katy Harris, our Kauri Pod teacher and team leader of Ngā Kākano, and her husband Mark will be moving back to the UK in September. Katy will leave a big gap in our staff, particularly in our junior school, and we will all miss her dearly. However, we are thrilled for them both as Mark has secured an exciting new role, and they will be much closer to their whānau.
This Friday will be Dana Reynolds’ final day at school as she begins her maternity leave. Wishing you all the very best, Dana - we can't wait to see photos of your baby!

Pelorus Trust Soundsystems
Ngā mihi to the Pelorus Trust who approved a grant application and awarded us $5,499.88 to purchase 2 new Phonak sound systems. This advanced auditory technology will significantly enhance the learning experience for our students and provide valuable support to our teachers.
Te Matatini
Te Matatini has been absolutely incredible! I loved watching the performances and seeing Māori culture showcased in all its glory for Aotearoa and the world. Kapa haka is a truly special and unique taonga of our country, and it’s inspiring to see its rapid growth across Aotearoa, particularly in schools.
This year, our Kāpiti and Ōtaki School’s annual kapa haka festival will be held over two days due to its growing popularity—what an awesome milestone! We haven’t finalised our rōpū yet, but we estimate that around 170 tamariki will be involved. As always, kapa haka at our school is completely voluntary, and it’s fantastic to see our tamariki embracing it with such passion and enthusiasm. Ka mau te wehi—amazing!
Ngā mihi nui!
