Tōku Waikanaetanga Tēnei – A Day of Learning and Action at Ōtaraua Park
What an incredible day our Year 7 & 8 students had with Matua Mohi and the iwi team at Ōtaraua Park, supported by Wellington Mountains to Sea and Enviro schools! This mahi is part of our Tōku Waikanaetanga Tēnei programme, now in its third year, which provides our tamariki with hands-on experiences to connect with and care for our local environment.
Throughout the day, our students engaged in a range of meaningful activities, including working in and around our awa, planting native species, testing water quality, and learning about the ngāhere (bush). They also had the opportunity to plant seeds and deepen their understanding of kaitiakitanga (guardianship) for our whenua and waterways.
Each of our Year 7 & 8 classes take part in this special experience, walking to the park to immerse themselves in this incredible learning journey. Huge thanks to Matua Mohi Edwin for his coordination and passion in guiding our ākonga through these powerful environmental experiences.

Ngā mihi to everyone involved in making this such an awesome day! 🌱💚
Kapakapanui Cricket and Girls Futsal
This month we have had two amazing Interschool sports events that Kapakapanui School has attended.
The first was the Smash Play Inter School Cricket Festival in Levin.
We had three teams take part in this event from Years 3-8. These players took part in some training sessions with Horowhenua Kapiti Cricket at the end of last year in preparation for this event.
Here are some photos from the day.

A huge thanks to all the parents who provided transport and helped supervise the teams for the day along with Mrs Burgess. The day would not have been possible without you all.
Last Friday we had two teams of Year 3-6 Girls take part in the Girls Futsal Tournament at Te Rauparaha arena in Porirua. This was an action packed day run by Capital Football. The players took the train down to the event then played up to 6 games throughout the day. Thanks to Mrs McKenzie for coordinating this day and to the parents and whānau who went along to support!

Wellington Regional Padder Tennis Comp
Congratulations to Barnaby, Fred, Mason and Parker who competed last Friday and were 3rd in Wellngton Regional Champs - an awesome effort!

School Sports Tops – Bond System from Term 2
Our school sports tops are starting to return, but once again, we are noticing many are coming back dirty, stained, damaged or not at all. This is a real concern, as 18 months ago, we purchased 200 new tops at $40 each, and our stock is already running low.
To help ensure our uniforms are well cared for and returned, we are introducing a $15 bond for the loan of a school sports top from Term 2 onwards. This bond will be charged to your school account each time a top is borrowed and refunded when the shirt is returned in good condition.
A reminder that new tops can be purchased for $35 each-cheaper than what we paid for them!
We appreciate your support in looking after our school uniforms so they can continue to be available for all students.
